Jill Witherspoon is a Cobourg artist who works in lino print and wool needlefelt. She is inspired by water, forest, gardens, and the tiniest of our everyday backyard and woodland creatures. An abiding appreciation of what is small, and simple, and silly in life shapes her work. As a perpetual gardener, swimmer, skier, and kayaker Jill is outdoors as much as possible and is a firm believer in the adage “there is no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing”. Jill has an intense love of colour and finds the flexibility and vibrancy of wool makes needlefelting an exciting and inspiring medium. Jill also enjoys the thinking process of reducing a scene to light and dark in mirror image that lino printing requires and finds that it encourages a different way of seeing and editing.
