Diane Dowsett
Diane Dowsett is a fine arts painter based in Brighton, Ontario, originally from Sudbury. She creates immersive landscape stories using rich colours, serene composition and expressive brushwork. Having lived, worked and traveled in many countries throughout her life, Diane is inspired by the variations in geography, cultures, and the creative accomplishments of others. “I paint to capture the quiet beauty of the natural world—where you can hear the wind in the trees, feel the sun on your face, and sense the gentle ripple of water. My work offers a moment of calm and balance, a reminder that even in a chaotic world, serenity still exists—something collectors often feel when they connect with my art. Idyllic images create a beautiful refuge from daily life and act as a reminder to stop and enjoy the beauty that nature presents, fleeting and ever-changing.”
Largely self-taught, Diane also learned from a number of talented instructors over the years, benefitting from their techniques and insights. In turn, she provides instruction and feedback to others through workshops and mentorship. In 2024-25, Diane served as a Board Director for the Brighton Arts & Culture Council, using her prior corporate business skills in grant/funding application efforts, along with supporting group art shows and events. Diane enjoys living in Brighton where she is dedicated to her art, family, wellbeing and engaging with the community locally.
